Squeeze-on lubrication by Eckardt
The pinpoint lubrication of strips and sheets is usually indispensable before the stamping and shaping process. If it can be ensured that the application of lubrication is always without gaps and even and that a high-quality lubricant is employed, a thin oil film (approx. 1-5g/m²) is frequently sufficient.
The high-quality lubricants used today should only be applied in thin, homogeneous layers. A thicker layer application is not sensible as the excess medium does not take part in the shaping process, but is displaced by the contacting tool. It is essential to have an even, gapless lubricant film that ensures separation between material (steel) and tool as well as stretching of the material without breakage.
